Our Vision is a vibrant Nova Scotia where all businesses are actively contributing to local prosperity - environmentally, socially, and economically. It’s just, good sense for businesses to exist symbiotically with the communities they serve and the environment in which they operate. JGB’s mission is to motivate all Nova Scotian businesses to integrate positive social and environmental impact into their core business models.

Barrinique Griffin

Barrinique has an impressive range of experience in academia, the Nova Scotia tech ecosystem, and as an entrepreneur herself. Barrinique is a professional with a passion for start-ups. Currently Barrinique is the Program Manager at Dalhousie Emera Idea Hub. Barrinique plays a critical part in designing the range of programs offered to engineers including undergraduates with fresh ideas to venture founders preparing to bring their physical products to market.

Matt Thomson

Matt is happy to call Nova Scotia home proudly wearing the “here-by-choice” badge. Constantly learning from teachers that surround him, including his kids, wife, parents, friends and mentors, Matt’s grateful for the wisdom and inspiration he is exposed to. Living with a passion for joy, fulfillment and love, Matt brings his authentic self to all that he does. Finally, Matt strives to reflect and honour his values which are to: Amplify, Inspire and Transform.

Anuj Jain

Anuj is a social enterprise enthusiast, with exposure and learnings from different parts of the world. He has promoted social enterprises during his work globally with CARE International and at Coady Institute, before initiating his own set-up, Facilitators for Social Change. He holds an Honors degree in Physics and an MBA with Finance and Marketing as majors. Antigonish and Nova Scotia is a new home for his wife Jyotsna and him since 2010.

Jenna MacKenzie

Her work with Pathways Cape Breton as the Executive Director see’s the transformation of employment services for persons with severe and enduring mental illness and substance use disorder through various quadruple bottom line Social Enterprises. Jenna’s leadership portfolio also includes strategic planning, the development of community inclusion training, building empowering, independence building, meaningful, and impactful training programs, working collaboratively to provide supported and affordable housing and advocacy work for procurement transformation for the inclusion of social enterprises, affordable housing and senior

Treasurer

Andy Horsnell

Andy has worked for over three decades to help community-based enterprises and local economies be more resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable. He has worked with 100s of community organisations — large and small, rural and urban ‒ throughout North America and abroad. In 2020, he co-founded Flourish Community Development Co-operative, which brings together five different firms to undertake large-scale community economic development projects. In addition to his own consulting practice and Flourish, Andy works as a consulting associate for: Horizons Community Development Associates, LearnSphere, and the Centre for Local Prosperity.
